Event Details
- Target Audience: ANYONE (no age limit), in a team of 3-5 person
- Date: 21th June 2008
- Starting Venue: AMK CC
- Ending Venue: Heeren
- Expected Participation: 50 Teams
- Duration: 8 Hours
- Registration Fee: FREE for the first 20 teams, $10/person thereafter
- The event will start at 10am and end at 6pm
- There will be 6 stations which participants are required to complete
- Participants are required to travel on foot only throughout the race
- Attractive PRIZES to be won and GOODIE BAGS and Nike T-shirt to be given
Objective
- Create an impact and awareness in regards to Service-Learning
- Understand and experience poverty through the various activities throughout the race
- To be out of comfort zone for a day
Amazing Race
- Total of 6 Station
- Station 1 - The Darkest Side
Rules: Participants are being blind folded and asked to squat in the middle of the park for 10 minutes. They are not allowed to converse with anyone.
Objectives: To experience the life without lights, while the squatting will make one feel the pain and uncomfortable life people in the third world country are experiencing. More importantly, face the pressure of people looking at you.
- Station 2 - Sowing
Rules: Participants are tasked to find green beans within a patch of grass within 20min. The more beans you found, the higher score you will get.
Objectives: To experience the aching back of the farmers. In countries, many who are young people between 15 to 21years old are helping out on the farm. Wastage of food is a very bad habit.
- Station 3 - Newspaper Collection
Rules: Participants are tasked to collect newspaper from an allocated block.
Objectives: To experience of asking people for help and face rejections.
- Station 4 - Lunch Station
Rules: Participants are given plain porridge.
Objectives: To live out of their comfort zone and experience the normal meal people are having a day.
- Station 5 - Cardboard Station
Rules: Participants are required to play on various role of handicap and each role will earn a piece of cupboard.
Objectives: Allow the participants to understand how the handicaps are feeling and the difficulties they are facing.
- Station 6 - Build a home
Rules: With the items collected from the games, participants are to build a home that is able to accommodate the team.
Objectives: To work together and understand there are people who is living without shelter. Team to share and reflect on the day activities.
